BioLAB Internship Program 2026-2027. Application deadline February 2, 2026

The Polish-American Fulbright Commission invites master’s and doctoral students in biological, chemical, biophysical, medical, and related sciences to submit applications for the BioLAB Program 2026-2027.

The application deadline is February 2, 2026.

The BioLAB Program offers a one-year research internship in a laboratory located at one of four institutions in the US:

  • University of Virginia, Charlottesville
  • University of Chicago, Chicago
  • University of Texas: Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas
  • Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Oklahoma City

During the internship, students conduct independent research in modern laboratories under the supervision of qualified mentors. Their research results are frequently published in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Additionally, they actively participate in the life of the American university, attending seminars and guest lectures, and learning about American culture. In some cases, they also have the opportunity to use their research results for their master’s or doctoral dissertation at their home university.

Participation in the Program includes:

  • A scholarship of approximately $28,000-$35,000, depending on living expenses
  • Full medical insurance
  • Assistance in obtaining an F-1 or J-1 visa for stay in the US (the cost of issuing a SEVIS number and obtaining the visa is covered by the student)
  • Pre-departure preparation provided by the BioLAB Program Director and program alumni
  • Aid during the stay provided by the host institution

Individuals eligible for an internship under the BioLAB Program are:

  • Meet the requirements for an F-1 or J-1 visa
  • Study a field of study in biology, chemistry, biophysics, medicine, or a related field
  • At the time of interview, will be a master’s or doctoral student at a Polish university or research institution and maintain active student status during the internship
  • Have achieved a high grade point average (recommended: 4.0 or higher) higher education)
  • Demonstrate a good command of English, especially scientific terminology.

IMPORTANT: For non-Polish citizens, in addition to active student status at a Polish university, we also require the completion of first-cycle studies in Poland (Bachelor’s or Engineering).
